98 STAMFORD HIGH SCHOOL EARN CT SEAL OF BILTERACY!

Students Achieved Designation in 17 World Languages

SHS is pleased to announce that 98 students have earned the Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy (Seal of Biliteracy) during high school. 

The Seal of Biliteracy was established by the State of Connecticut to recognize public high school graduates who have attained a level of proficiency in English and one or more other world languages. To be eligible for the Seal of Biliteracy, students must complete all high school graduation requirements in English Language Arts as well as demonstrate proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing in a language other than English at a level comparable to “Intermediate Mid” on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

Students in the SPS Class of 2026 earned the Seal of Biliteracy in 17 languages: Arabic, Dari, French, Georgian, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Telugu, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. 

The State of Connecticut requires all public-school students to earn at least one credit in a world language to graduate from high school, while most colleges and universities require a minimum of three years of high school study of the same world language. The Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy designation appears on high school transcripts and diplomas, and students receive a medal to wear at graduation.

The SPS Seal of Biliteracy program is coordinated by Matt Gladstone at Stamford High School and Ann Herz at Westhill High School in collaboration with the World Language Departments at AITE, Stamford High, Westhill, and SPS Anchor.

SENIOR FUN DAY PICS!

This past Wednesday, the Class of 2026 was treated to a day of fun!  The weather was great and the kids had an awesome time!  Thanks to the parent volunteers, vendors, and the students for a fun afternoon!

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS!

We were thrilled to celebrate our students on Wednesday, June 3rd, honoring 69 graduating seniors and inducting 61 juniors into the National Honor Society. 

We are confident that these exceptional students will continue to lead by example, upholding the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. 

Our seniors leave behind a remarkable legacy of dedication, and we look forward to seeing our new junior inductees step up to shape the future of our school and community.  Congratulations to all our students and their families!

SHS STUDENTS TRAVEL “NORTH OF THE BORDER”

Thanks to Ms. Ram and Mr. Gladstone from our WL department, our students had an opportunity to immerse themselves in French-Canadian culture by exploring a traditional Huron site in Wendake, learning from expert guides, taking a scenic ferry ride on the St. Lawrence River, and visiting the iconic McGill University campus among many other things!!

The group had a blast experimenting with traditional foods like crêpes and maple taffy, competed in a lively grocery scavenger hunt, and even got to watch the Montreal Canadiens battle in the Stanley Cup playoffs together.

DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

On Monday evening, Stamford High students were honored at the 15th Annual Dollars for Scholars Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to (left to right) Rithza Saint Paul, Nicholas Vallejo, Cal Gillin, Sean Wyman, Alejandra Pinto, Ivana Roman, and (not pictured) Michael Kerr.

SPRING SPORTS POST SEASON HONORS (MORE TO COME!)

2026-2027 SPORTS INFORMATION

Black Knight Athletics Registration – Opens May 5th for the 2026–2027 school year.

Registration for all Stamford High School athletic programs (Fall, Winter, and Spring) will open on May 5.

All student-athletes must complete registration online through Final Forms. A parent/guardian must register the student first – Then the student will get an email in their school email where they will log on and complete the registration. All athletes are required to have a current physical, which must be uploaded to Final Forms and approved by the school nurses (nurses check the website regularly to approve) prior to participation in:

• Any summer activities

• Tryouts for the 2026–2027 school year (Fall starts; golf 8/10, football 8/13 & rest 8/24)
