ATTENDANCE REPORTING UPDATE
Regular school attendance supports positive academic and social emotional growth, and SPS is committed to working with families to ensure students attend school daily. To support regular attendance and timely absence reporting, Stamford High School has been selected to pilot AI Attendance Assistant from Edia Learning.
AI Attendance Assistant offers text-based, two-way communication with families where you can tell us why your child is absent and even text back the required documentation.
AI Attendance Assistant features include:
Two-way conversations: When your child is marked absent, you will be notified within minutes by text message. You can reply directly to the message to let school staff know what’s going on. You can even excuse the absence via text. School records will be updated automatically if the appropriate documentation is provided.
Send absence documentation: Reply via text to send pictures, doctor’s notes, letters or other relevant documents that explain your child’s absence.
Text in almost any language: The AI Attendance Assistant can chat with you in approximately 70 languages to meet the needs of most families.
The AI Attendance Assistant will communicate with you using the mobile phone number for the primary parent/guardian in PowerSchool. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in PowerSchool to utilize AI Attendance Assistant.
We look forward to piloting this new tool to enhance our communication with you and to better support regular student attendance.
FOR FAMILIES:
1. Beginning Monday November 10, you will receive a text from Edia if your child is marked absent.
2. Follow the AI prompts and reply to the questions and the reason for the absence.
It’s quick, simple, and helps us support your child more effectively. Your response will serve as verification of an absence and will be recorded in Powerschool.
It will also help us collectively keep track of our students to ensure their educational success.
All notifications will be tracked for verification.
